Brainstorming Simplicity
Sometimes the simplest lessons are the most powerful. Here is a "Lesson In A Can".

Often when teaching, we teachers are our own worst enemies. We get in our own way, over-explaining, over-planning, over-designing and over-deliverying our way to frustration.
I believe sometimes, a lesson can be as simple as prompting students and letting them have a go … the teacher stepping out of the way.
Many of the materials in our lesson library are designed along the lines of this “materials lite” focus. Just a simple piece of paper or projection on the screen or board to provide the “spark”. See our “brainstorm” tag for many of these resources. The Top 10 is another idea along this line. Easy to do and powerful.
Here is one example with a focus on thematic vocabulary. Ask students to name all the things that come in a can. Even provide real grocery store flyer, if you can.
After, take up and create a list. Then review with this video. How many on your list are noted in the video?
