Commandments conjure up religion and absolutes. But the term can also be seen as just a statement of absolutes - where people draw a line on a particular issue.
I’ve been thinking of them lately in my biking context but I’d like to introduce you to some activities you might do in class using “commandments”.
There are so many topics ripe for a discussion when framed with the question - “What are your commandents for …?” You name it - Life. Exercise. Learning English. Making Money. Being Happy. Your 5 Commandents To ….

Commandments are also a good way to frame a discussion about rules for the classroom. What are our “commandments” for the class. Negotiate with students and come up with your own class contract and list of commandments.
