Small Pleasures
A simple and "small" idea to get students thinking about the many small things that make life wonderful.
In our lives, it is worth taking the time to think about the “small” things that fulfill us and give us pleasure. You know - a hot shower, new socks, a stranger’s smile … It is also worth taking the time in class to get students thinking about these “small” things. Simple Pleasures. See our own video version too!
First, I usually prompt students with the question - “What small things do you enjoy?” You might even phrase this as “What things in life cost nothing but are so important?”
After a short intro. play the video. Students will get the idea of what you are talking about.
Next, get students brainstorming and then presenting to the class, all the small pleasures of their lives.
Finally, maybe end with this additional video, time permitting.
