The Power Of Research
Giving students a target and then letting them learn and hit a bullseye. The power of research framed learning.

Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is a powerful student-centered approach for lesson delivery. Learners learn by doing and completing a task and the focus is on language use.
If you combine this with a project based focus - it can be even more dynamic.
Teachers provide students with the task and the criteria and students complete the task through research.
For example, let’s think of a timely one - The Summer Olympic Games. The task is to research an Olympic athlete and present them to the class.
Teachers show an example of a completed task. [The teacher presents information about a summer Olympian to the class. ]
The teacher using this modeling, provides students with a template for students to record information.
Students research and record information to complete the task and prepare for their class presentation.
Students present their project to the class or group.
*** If this project is to be evaluated, in Step 2, teachers will share with students or negotiate with students, the evaluation criteria (rubric).
Our Lesson Library has many such organizers and “materials lite” resources to support this kind of “research” approach. Check all the resources in the Lesson Library under the “research” tag.
Here are a couple of them that you may find useful.
