The World Cup

It's the biggest show on earth and your students will be excited to learn English while learning about the World Cup.

Every 4 years, the World Cup comes around and I’m always surprised by the level of excitement it generates in class. I will probably be teaching a few weeks during the tournament - excited middle schoolers, so I’ll be using some of our teaching resources focused on the World Cup.

See all our soccer / football related lesson materials but here are the newly updated ones to supplement or use when teaching.

  1. Get the full schedule and pool and pick winners. Who will win the WC pool?

  2. See this beautiful overview presentation (see the video!).

  3. The World Cup Project. Students choose a country and follow its progress, report back on it, during the World Cup.

  4. World Cup Countries. Can your students identify the flags and countries qualified for the World Cup? Try the PPTx version.

  5. World Cup Quizzes. Paper and PPTx version. Test your student background knowledge. The advanced quiz can be used as a research webquest.

So many other materials that could be used! Why not have students research a famous football star? Pele. Lionel Messi. Maradonna.

Enjoy these resources and I hope your team does well in the tournament!

Thanks for your support.
