Visual Poetry

Poetry is a powerful language resource to use in the classroom. Here are some of the classics we've produced for teacher use.

Poetry is first of all, an attempt to understand the world. It is pure language, distilled water, if you like. And because it symbolically and with linguistic force sends out strong messages - it is a great resource for our language lessons.

We’ve been busy the last year, making many wonderful video versions of powerful modern poems for use by teachers in the classroom.

Here are a few that we recommend - but see many on our YouTube channel playlist.

Let us know what poems you’ve used that really work in class. Also, see our other posts about lessons using poetry. Click on the title to go to selected teaching materials.

I Wanna Be Yours. John Cooper Clarke

I Lost My Talk. Rita Joe.

The End. So Now We Are Six. A.A. Milne.

Harlem. Langston Hughes.

Enjoy using some of these poems!
